The Sunrise House was built in 1875 as a farmhouse and was transformed into a boarding house over 100 years ago. During the last decades of the "Catskill Vacations", The Sunrise House was operated by Charles and Sadie Arndt, along with their daughter, Anita. The work was long, but rewarding. Families often stayed a week or even a month in the country, year after year. In some cases, children who had vacationed here with their parents each summer, returned as adults to recapture fond childhood memories. Today, Anita and Gene welcome you back to those by-gone-years to our restored Sunrise House on 45 acres with fabulous views. We have five elegantly decorated air-conditioned bedrooms with cable TV and en suite baths. We are located only 15 minutes from Bethel Woods Center for the Arts and minutes from Main Street, Jeffersonville. |
When you are here, who cares what day it is, or for that matter what time. I saw a shooting star last night for the first time in 20 years. As a child the beauty of this place escaped me, as an adult, I have found the perfect place to hide and relax, and to dream. I just saw the moon rise for the first time in my life! The love and thoughtfullness of Anita and Gene will never be forgotten. |
